Time Management! YAY!

Summer is in full swing!

I traveled to Chicago for my sister Kate’s bachelorette party last weekend.

As I’m sure you can imagine, it was action-packed and super fun. Therefore, I spent the first few days of this week recovering and catching up on sleep.

Also, I’ve recently decided that I’m going to start celebrating weekends early (like starting Wednesday or Thursday nights), so between my endless social activities and household commitments, I’ve been a busy gal and have hardly had time to whip up my usual variety of omelettes and cakes to share with you.

Since I’ve been trying to focus on productivity and taking advantage of free time, I thought I’d share some tips for TIME MANAGEMENT! Yesssss!!!

Sleep: Ya gotta get to bed at a reasonable hour—you’re working out tomorrow at 6am—see below.

Exercise: Get used to doing it in the morning. Just get it over with. You’ll start off your day feeling accomplished and happy (because endorphins) and then you’ll have your entire evening for social activities or spending time with your family.

Cut out useless activity: I typically do not wear makeup to work (I spend a lot of my work day with sleeping babies. They don’t even see my face, let alone care if it’s contoured). This helps me cut out 20-30 minutes of “getting ready” in the morning before work. During this time, I’m free to make myself a healthy breakfast, or for chores like tidying up the kitchen, unloading the dishwasher, etc., so that when I come home from work, I’ve already crossed several to-do’s off my list for the day! Also, I can save my expensive makeup for actual awesome occasions! Think about what you can do without. If it’s not absolutely imperative, give it the axe.

Meal prep: if you take some time on the weekends to get your meals together for the week, you’ll save a boatload of time. (Check out this post here for an extra tip.) For example, we were out late last night at a charity gala. I didn’t have time to pack a lunch for today—when I got to work, I just took a jar out of the freezer and set it on my desk! Boom—healthy and delicious lunch. Don’t have time to cook? Fine! Buy a rotisserie chicken and use the meat to throw on salads or in wraps.

Be proactive: Take care of your shiz right away, okay? For example, fold/put away your laundry right when it’s dry—you might save time not having to iron or steam your clothes later. Also, chores won’t pile up on your list. So when an impromptu happy hour comes up, all ya gotta do is say WHERE and WHEN!?
